Thanks y'all - I think I'm going to be bringing more stories out of the childhood closet.


I love this essay, too. I can imagine you as a little girl lying on the floor playing at the airport. I love Mexico for this reason, too, although as their wealth increases so does the amount of stuff and convenience.

I love your stories about Five-Minute Friends. I had never thought of it that way before, but I guess I have also had my share of "Five-Minute Friends" What a great way to think of these experiences.

You really have a great memory. I remember being on the Azores on that trip back to Germany, but I don't even remember you playing with another little girl.

YES! I am fantasizing about sending my kids to volunteer in Africa when they start whining about all that STUFF they NEED to survive in this world.
